A couple
from Franklin, North Carolina built a hybrid timber
frame. The heart of their home is a timber frame
great room with a lovely hammerbeam arch
dramatically framing a stained glass window. The
stained glass window panels were purchased by the
home owner years before from an antique shop. They
were originally part of a South Carolina Baptist
church.

The home discussed in this article,
is a timber frame hybrid. The original home was a
conventionally built stick frame structure. The
addition is a timber frame living area. This is an
excellent example of how timber frame construction
enhances a family's lifestyle by providing expansive
space and design, adding dramatic character to the
home.
