I cannot thank you enough for
everything -- the frame is amazing - and for
your patience. We are excited about our/your
new house - and very happy that we chose
Goshen to make the frame. A fine example of
exceptional people making exceptional
products. --Brian D., Pylesville,
Maryland |
We love our frame! Everything went
just as it was supposed to. It could not
have been better. The reality has surpassed
the dream. Goshen made it possible for us to
have a frame at a price we could afford that
we couldnt get out here. --Steve
and Jilene F., Chehalis, Washington |

If you have
some knowledge of timber framing, or want to gain
it by taking a Goshen workshop or apprenticeship,
you may feel ready to cut and raise your own
timber frame. Designing and engineering the timber
frame, however, may be more responsibility than
you wish to take on. In this case, you have the
option of buying one of our standard timber frame
packets. These include cut lists, production
lists, and shop drawings, as well as frame
blueprints (and, if desired, the standard floor
plan and exterior elevations.)
We have
developed a number of post & beam designs and
floor plans that offer a range of styles and sizes
to meet differing needs, while using general
design principles that maximize the amount of
timber framed area for the cost. Goshen
recommends planed white pine, for timber frame
construction as this is the best wood for timber
framing available in our region. White pine is a
very stable wood that does not twist and bend.
Consequently it develops much smaller "checks"
(the cracks in the wood that are inevitable with
large timbers), than do oak or other hard woods.
White pine has a light golden color that will become
more or less dark depending upon the oil used to
finish it. |

Gentry's Mill
** 28' x 52' Timber Frame Gentry's
Mill, one of the largest of our standard timber frames, has
a simple but imposing presence. Designed as a common rafter
frame, the ceiling is all rafters, eliminating the purlins
found in the traditional bent frame. Two posts in each
section effectively frame a central hallway on the first
floor. The four dormers across the front flood the expansive
loft with light. This large structure allows for up to five
bedrooms or lots of space for an office, library or craft
room. ** Total timber framed area: 2605

incorporate conventional framing with timber frame section(s).
In addition to the frame design, we can provide the home plans
(elevations, floor plans, foundation plans, specifications,
sections and details), including the design of non-timber
framed sections of the structure. Please go to the
